First thing we did was check out some surreal art, focusing on the idea of "mashing up" dreams with reality. Next, I cut transparencies into fours, to limit the size of each "critter". Students were given a black Sharpie and white acrylic paint.......
.......they were told they needed to have THREE different creatures: one with only the top half showing, one with only the right/left half showing, and one "traveling" (flying, walking, driving a bus, swimming, etc.) They were not given the background pictures until after, for the element of surprise.
Results were quite fun!
